Who wants chocolate in the afternoon and it’s actually completely healthy? I do!
After a while, finding a healthy protein snack in the afternoon got old. Honestly, I don’t think I can stomach another protein bar.
So, after rolling in from a trip and no fresh produce available. I found a few things to make a healthy snack. And I had a chocolate craving.
You know what happens when you get a chocolate craving….it turns obsessive!
So, I dug around the house and found these ingredients. Coconut milk, avocado, frozen banana, cacao powder and nibs and some raw almonds for protein. I always add protein of some sort for my afternoon snack so my blood sugar doesn’t plummet and I overeat at dinner.
So, if you have these, or if you don’t go get them….. We almost always have frozen bananas because we can’t seem to ever finish a bunch of bananas before they start getting overripe. I peel them and throw them in the freezer.
Cacao is a wonderful form of antioxidants. It’s chocolate in it’s most raw form, so you get the benefits of chocolate without all the sugar.
Now, throw all this fun stuff in your blender.
Blend it all together into a smooth chocolatey goodness. Yum!
*Tip— with the blender, start off at a slow speed to get hard stuff like almonds chopped up first. If you start too fast everything just flies around the blender and you’re just wasting your time.
Then, speed it up to get it whipped together.
Pour into a cool glass or mason jar and enjoy!
Now, you’ve gotten that sweet tooth taken care of and with antioxidants to boot. There’s really no guilt here with this afternoon delight.
