If you’re a green tea fan, you’ll love this iced matcha latte. Matcha is a specially grown and processed form of green tea that’s finely ground into a powder. During growth the plant produces theanine and caffeine. This particular combination produces a calming energy. Versus the nervousness we get from straight caffeine.
Because it’s a powder, it’s not generally found in a tea bag. We dissolve it in water to consume it. I personally like the flavor better than straight up green tea. It’s not as bitter. And green tea gives me a belly ache if I have it on an empty stomach. I’ve noticed matcha doesn’t do that.
In traditional Japanese and Chinese culture drinking it as a hot tea embodies a meditative spiritual ceremony as well.
Other health benefits of matcha:
- Extremely high in antioxidants
- Increases energy level
- lowers cholesteral
- detoxifies
- enhances concentration
- improves skin
- stimulates metabolism
I’m sold! I’ve officially switched from green tea to matcha.
