Turmeric is everywhere these days. For good reason ya’ll!  This tonic is like a medicine for the body and so good!  You just need a good juicer to start, turmeric, carrots, apple and lemon.

The 2 biggest benefits of this tonic are: it’s a powerful antioxidant as well as a strong anti-inflammatory.

1. Antioxidants

Turmeric has powerful antioxidants that fight free radicals in our bodies. So, all these years while we’ve been pretending to know what antioxidants do (we know they’re beneficial, we just don’t know why, right?….Right.)

What are free radicals?

Without getting too sciencey, a free radical is a molecule that reacts with certain chemicals in our body, which, in turn, can interfere with our cells ability to function normally.

High levels of free radicals can actually cause cell damage.  And this, people can cause rapid aging.  So, that’s why dermatologists are talking about antioxidants so much.

(I got this next part from webmd.

You are exposed to free radicals:

  • Through by-products of normal processes that take place in your body (such as the burning of sugars for energy and the release of digestive enzymes break down food).
  • When the body breaks down certain medicines.
  • Through pollutants.

2. Anti-Inflammatory

My favorite is that turmeric is a powerful anti-inflammatory that rivals most drugs.  So, if you’re suffering from Rheumatoid Arthritis, it can be a wonderful natural benefit to your diet.

It’s been a medicinal Indian herb for centuries, so, it’s been around awhile.

My favorite about anti-inflammatories is that it combats swelling.  You have a hard workout and that old injury is starting to bug you? Natural anti-inflammatories will calm it down.  You know another anti-inflammatory….Ibuprofen.  Not so good in high doses right?

I can show you how to drink a full dosage worth of turmeric in one tasty drink. It’s super easy and surprisingly tasty.

Get out your juicer.  Put at least 1 1/2 inch of fresh turmeric root in first.  No need to peel in a juicer of course.  Just throw it in there!

For flavor and more vitamins, add 2 carrots and 1 apple.  Lastly, squeeze 1/2 lemon either into the juicer or when you’re done.  (Not to be a smart-A, but the lemon’s already juiced).

Stir it all up, put in a pretty glass and drink up all the goodness.  Just pure vitamins in a glass!

xo,
